Kraftwerk - The Complete Discography (1970-2003)

Kraftwerk didn't just make electronic music, they built the vocabulary everyone else has been using since. Formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, the group spent their first few years as krautrock experimentalists before Autobahn (1974) turned them into something closer to pop, without ever softening the machine-like discipline underneath it. This print traces that full arc: the group's own Kling Klang studio, the shift from the flute-and-guitar textures of their earliest records to the vocoders and sequencers of Radio-Activity, Trans-Europe Express and The Man-Machine, through to Computer World and the group's final studio album, Tour de France Soundtracks, in 2003.

Because Kraftwerk recorded in both German and English, often as genuinely different versions rather than straight translations, this print includes both editions of each release, along with the changing lineup behind them (Wolfgang Flür and Karl Bartos among them). It's less a fan poster than a reference piece: the kind of print that means something to anyone who understands how much of hip-hop, techno, and synth-pop traces back to a handful of records made in a converted factory space on the Rhine.
