SHIPPING POLICY

Last updated: July 2026

Thank you for shopping with The Sense of Doubt.

The Sense of Doubt is an independent studio based in Madrid, Spain. Each print is carefully prepared, signed where indicated, and securely packaged before dispatch.

This Shipping Policy explains how orders are processed, shipped and delivered.

1. Order Processing

Orders are normally prepared and dispatched within 3–6 business days after payment has been confirmed, unless a different processing time is stated on the relevant product page.

Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays in Spain.

During product launches, promotional periods, holidays or unusually busy periods, processing may take slightly longer.

Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email. Where tracking is available, this email will include the relevant tracking information.

2. Made-to-Order, Pre-Order and Commissioned Work

Some prints may be produced to order or offered as pre-orders.

The estimated production or dispatch date for these products will be stated on the product page or communicated separately.

Commissioned, personalised or specially produced artwork is subject to the timetable agreed with the customer before production begins.

Where an order contains both an immediately available product and a pre-order or made-to-order product, the entire order may be dispatched together once all items are ready, unless otherwise agreed.

3. Shipping Destinations

The Sense of Doubt ships to customers in Spain and selected international destinations.

Available shipping destinations and shipping charges are shown during checkout after the customer enters the delivery address.

Some locations may not be available due to carrier restrictions, customs requirements, exceptional transport conditions or other operational limitations.

Please contact shop@thesenseofdoubt.com before ordering if your destination is not available during checkout.

4. Shipping Costs

Shipping charges are calculated and displayed at checkout before payment is completed.

Shipping costs may vary depending on:

  • the destination country;
  • the size and weight of the parcel;
  • the selected shipping service;
  • tracking and insurance availability;
  • the number and format of the prints ordered.

Customers will not be charged delivery costs that were not disclosed before completing the purchase.

5. Estimated Delivery Times

Once dispatched, estimated delivery times are generally:

  • Spain: approximately 2–5 business days;
  • European Union: approximately 4–10 business days;
  • United Kingdom: approximately 5–12 business days;
  • United States and Canada: approximately 7–15 business days;
  • Other international destinations: approximately 7–20 business days.

These timeframes are estimates rather than guaranteed delivery dates.

Delivery may take longer because of customs inspections, carrier disruption, adverse weather, strikes, local holidays, remote destinations or other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Unless a different delivery period has been expressly agreed, orders will be delivered in accordance with the time limits required by applicable consumer law.

6. Important Dates and Time-Sensitive Orders

Please contact us before ordering if you require an artwork for a birthday, exhibition, event or another specific date.

We will confirm whether dispatch within the requested timeframe appears reasonably possible. However, a delivery date is only considered guaranteed where this has been expressly agreed in writing.

Selecting an expedited shipping service reduces the estimated transit time but does not necessarily shorten the production or order-processing period.

7. Tracking

Tracked shipping is used where available for the selected destination and shipping method.

Tracking information may take up to 48 hours after dispatch to become active in the carrier’s system.

Customers are responsible for following the tracking information and responding promptly to:

  • delivery attempts;
  • requests from the carrier;
  • customs communications;
  • requests to collect the parcel from a collection point.

A lack of tracking updates for several days does not necessarily mean that a shipment has been lost, particularly during international transit or customs processing.

8. Delivery Address

Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address at checkout.

Please check the following details carefully:

  • recipient name;
  • street and house or building number;
  • apartment or unit number;
  • city;
  • postcode;
  • country;
  • telephone number, where requested.

Contact shop@thesenseofdoubt.com as soon as possible if you notice an error.

We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after an order has been processed or dispatched.

9. Incorrect or Incomplete Addresses

Where a parcel cannot be delivered because the customer supplied an incorrect or incomplete address, the customer may be responsible for the reasonable cost of reshipping the order.

If the parcel is returned to us, we will contact the customer after receiving and inspecting it.

The customer may choose, where available:

  • reshipment after paying the additional shipping cost; or
  • a refund of the product price, less any non-recoverable delivery or return charges, where permitted by applicable law.

This does not affect the customer’s statutory rights where the delivery problem was caused by an error made by The Sense of Doubt or the carrier.

10. Failed Delivery Attempts and Uncollected Parcels

Depending on the carrier, a parcel may be:

  • delivered to a neighbour;
  • redirected to a collection point;
  • held at a local postal office;
  • returned to the sender after unsuccessful delivery attempts.

Customers should collect or rearrange delivery within the timeframe specified by the carrier.

If a parcel is returned because it was not collected or because repeated delivery attempts were unsuccessful, the customer may be responsible for the reasonable cost of reshipping it.

11. Customs, Import VAT and Duties

Orders delivered within the European Union generally do not require the customer to pay customs duties at the border.

Orders shipped to destinations outside the European Union may be subject to:

  • import VAT;
  • customs duties;
  • brokerage charges;
  • handling fees;
  • local taxes.

Unless expressly stated at checkout, these charges are not included in the product price or shipping charge and are normally payable by the recipient.

The Sense of Doubt cannot control or predict charges imposed by customs authorities or local carriers.

Customers are responsible for checking the import requirements applicable in their country before ordering.

The Sense of Doubt will not declare an order as a gift or intentionally state an incorrect customs value.

12. Customs Delays

International orders may be inspected or held by customs authorities.

Customs processing times are outside our direct control and may result in delays beyond the original delivery estimate.

Customers must respond promptly to any reasonable request from customs authorities or the carrier for identification, tax payment or additional information.

If the customer refuses to pay applicable import charges and the parcel is returned, any refund will be handled after the item has been received and inspected. Reasonable non-recoverable shipping, customs or return costs may be deducted where permitted by law.

13. Risk During Delivery

The Sense of Doubt remains responsible for the goods during delivery until they are received by the customer or by a person identified by the customer to receive them.

An exception may apply where the customer independently arranges and contracts a carrier that was not offered by The Sense of Doubt.

Nothing in this Shipping Policy limits any mandatory consumer rights concerning goods lost or damaged in transit.

14. Delayed Orders

The delivery estimates shown on the website are approximate.

If an order has not arrived within the estimated timeframe, customers should:

  1. check the tracking information;
  2. check for a delivery attempt or collection notice;
  3. contact household members or neighbours;
  4. confirm that the delivery address was correct;
  5. contact us at shop@thesenseofdoubt.com.

We will review the shipment and, where appropriate, contact the carrier or begin a formal investigation.

Carrier investigations can take time, particularly for international orders. We will keep the customer informed of any material updates.

Where an order is not delivered within the agreed period or within the period required by applicable law, the customer may be entitled to provide an additional reasonable delivery period and, if delivery still does not occur, terminate the contract and receive a refund.

15. Lost Parcels

A parcel will not be treated as definitively lost merely because it is delayed or because tracking has not recently updated.

A shipment will normally be treated as lost when:

  • the carrier confirms that it has been lost;
  • the carrier’s investigation has concluded without locating it; or
  • sufficient time has passed for the shipment to be considered lost under the carrier’s procedures.

Where a parcel is confirmed as lost, The Sense of Doubt will offer an appropriate remedy, which may include:

  • sending a replacement at no additional cost; or
  • issuing a refund to the original payment method.

The available remedy may depend on stock availability and the circumstances of the shipment.

16. Damaged Orders

Prints are packaged carefully to protect them during transit.

If an order arrives damaged, please contact shop@thesenseofdoubt.com as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 7 days of delivery.

Please provide:

  • your order number;
  • a brief description of the damage;
  • clear photographs of the damaged artwork;
  • photographs of the external packaging;
  • photographs of the shipping label;
  • photographs of any visible damage to the tube or parcel.

Please keep the artwork and all original packaging until the claim has been resolved, as the carrier may require them for inspection.

Depending on the circumstances and product availability, we may offer:

  • a replacement;
  • a repair or other appropriate remedy;
  • a price reduction; or
  • a refund.

The request to contact us within seven days helps us submit a timely carrier claim. It does not remove any mandatory legal rights the customer may have regarding defective or damaged goods.

17. Missing or Incorrect Items

Please contact us promptly if:

  • an item is missing from the parcel;
  • you receive the wrong print;
  • you receive the wrong size;
  • the order differs materially from what you purchased.

Email shop@thesenseofdoubt.com with your order number and photographs of the items and packaging.

Where an error has been made by The Sense of Doubt, we will arrange an appropriate remedy at no additional cost to the customer.

18. Split Shipments

In some circumstances, an order may be sent in more than one parcel.

Where this occurs, the customer may receive separate shipping confirmation emails or tracking numbers.

No additional shipping charge will be applied unless this has been expressly agreed with the customer.

19. Packaging

Prints are generally shipped rolled in protective paper and placed inside a strong postal tube or suitable protective packaging.

Unless expressly stated on the product page, frames shown in product images are for display purposes only and are not included.

Please take care when removing a print from its packaging. Avoid using sharp objects that could damage the artwork.

Rolled prints may require a short period of flattening before framing.

20. Changes and Cancellations Before Dispatch

Contact shop@thesenseofdoubt.com immediately if you wish to change or cancel an order.

We will try to accommodate the request, but changes or cancellations cannot be guaranteed after an order has entered production, been packed or been dispatched.

Personalised, commissioned or made-to-specification products may not be cancellable once production has begun, subject to applicable law and the agreed commission terms.

21. Returns

Shipping-related returns are governed by our separate Returns & Refund Policy.

The cost of returning an unwanted product may be the customer’s responsibility. The Sense of Doubt will cover appropriate return or replacement costs where an item is damaged, defective, incorrect or otherwise not in conformity with the order.
