Factory Records - Key Releases (1979-1991)

"Factory just sign who they want to, put records by who they want to out, package it how they want to," Ian Curtis said of the Mancunian label that released his band's music. This print compiles that ethos into a chronological map of Factory's essential releases from 1979 to 1991, singles, EPs, LPs and compilations, including the underrated, genuinely obscure gems alongside the famous names.

Each release is documented with its catalogue number and the production and artwork credits of Martin Hannett and Peter Saville respectively, since Factory's identity was as much about those two names as it was about any single band. The 72 records featured span artists signed to the label including Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, James, Marcel King and Happy Mondays.
