Four labels, one golden era. This print maps the story of Mute, Factory, 4AD and Creation Records, the independent labels that between them shaped post-punk, goth, shoegaze and Britpop across two decades, from 1978 to 2000. It's a study in how differently four labels could operate while all landing on genuine cultural influence, Factory's chaotic, art-first ethos under Tony Wilson, 4AD's meticulous visual and sonic identity under Ivo Watts-Russell, Mute's early commitment to electronic music, and Creation's instinct-driven, occasionally reckless approach under Alan McGee.
160 albums, singles and compilations are laid out in chronological order, tracing the arc of Depeche Mode, Joy Division and New Order, Cocteau Twins, Pixies, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Erasure, Oasis, Happy Mondays and dozens more, the artists who turned four small, fiercely independent labels into some of the most influential names in music history.

Who’s Behind The Sense of Doubt ?
I’m Alejandro De Luna, the creator behind The Sense of Doubt; a solo studio in Madrid making wall art inspired by music, pop culture, and heritage. What began as a way to make sense of the records, places, and stories that shaped my life has grown into a visual archive that connects moods, history, and art.
I research, design, and hand-sign every piece myself in small batches, and today more than 10,000 art lovers in over 20 countries have my prints on their walls. People describe the work as “brilliantly researched,” “put together with great care,” and “a true labour of love.” That’s exactly what it is; no shortcuts, just me doing the work because I love it.
