Best Actor and Best Actress are equally thorough, spanning James Cagney's Yankee Doodle Dandy-era showmanship and Katharine Hepburn's four total wins (still the record) through to Daniel Day-Lewis's three, and Cate Blanchett's dual recognition for both leading and supporting work. Best Supporting Actor and Actress are included in full as well, the categories most often overlooked but frequently home to the ceremony's most surprising and career-defining wins.
