'EL SALMÓN' cumple 25 años

A quintuple album of 103 unreleased songs, an enormous and excessive creative project by Andrés Calamaro, unprecedented in the history of rock and popular music.

Between marathon and clandestine sessions, excesses, drugs, and endless nights in 'Camboya Profundo', an improvised studio in Buenos Aires, or "the cheapest studio in the world", with a name that pays tribute to the delirium of 'Apocalypse Now', with "plastic recording machines that could not withstand continuous hours of use and abuse" and a "kamikaze method of frantic composition", Calamaro managed to record some 400 songs, of which 103 ended up on the final album, released in Madrid.

Everything fits in 'El Salmón': recordings with a raw and lo-fi sound, rock, pop, tango, hip hop, reggae, funk, country, blues, ranchera, mambo, electronica, ballads, experimental demos, covers and essential songs from Calamaro's repertoire such as Tuyo Siempre, Ok Perdón, Output Input, All you Need is Pop, Aguas Peligrosas, Jugando al Límite, Vigilante Medio Argentino, El Salmón, Días Distintos or Revolución Turra.

I don't know of another case in Spanish or English music of an artist who, after signing two masterpieces like 'Alta Suciedad' (1997, 15 songs) and 'Honestidad Brutal' (1999, 37 songs), had the irreverence, the audacity, and the creative daring to release a five-disc album with more than a hundred unreleased tracks. 'El SALMÓN' is a monumental artistic journey, a kind of intimate Calamarian diary made music between demos and creative delirium.
